Leap into Spring with Good Deeds
Spring is just around the corner, and as the leaves return, flowers blossom and the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time of the year to get out and make a difference in your community and even in your own home. The Dr. Theodore Atlas Foundation has some great ideas for you to make an impact this spring.
In the Community
You know what spring means – spring cleaning! Take your spring cleaning projects as an opportunity to go through your clothes and belongings and sort through what you need and don’t need. Take the things you don’t need and donate them to a family who does need them or to an organization. With the warm weather, you don’t really need an excuse to go outside, but a great reason to take the family outside is to bring them to a fundraising event or a non-profit organization to volunteer. This gives your family a chance to get outside, witness the benefits of volunteering and spend time together.
Spring also means tax returns. A lot of times the money you receive is designated to home projects, bills and maybe even a vacation. However, the extra money provides a really great opportunity to donate or participate in one of our programs. The Teddy Atlas Foundation uses donations of all sizes to continue on the journey of helping those in need whether it’s a child in a medical crisis, a family who needs a lift or a youth program. Whatever amount you can give, there is no doubt you will feel great for your donation.
Another great opportunity to give is our new “Sponsor a Boxer Program.” For $500, you can sponsor a boxer for one year. Your sponsorship covers tournament fees, travel costs and uniform. The foundation will send updates on how the boxer is doing in school and also let you know about any tournaments he/she is competing in!
If getting the car fixed, or car shopping is on your spring project list, then you can purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a Ford Focus, donated by Dana Ford. 500 raffle tickets are available at $100 a ticket. The drawing will be held on September 4, 2012 at the Dr. Atlas Foundation annual golf outing at Richmond County Country Club!
You can make a huge impact in your own home as well. Your family will love and appreciate the extra steps you take to spend quality time together and there is no better time than in the spring! Plan a picnic – make or pick up some sandwiches and fruit and bring your family to a park or to the beach. Get those extra tough spring cleaning projects done around your home. Getting these out of the way early (and actually completing them,) will take a great deal of stress off of you and your whole family will reap the benefits! Don’t forget about volunteering or participating in one of our programs! It’s a beautiful thing when your children see you making an effort to help those in need.
